Ubicquia Secures $106M for AI-Powered Smart City Infrastructure
- •Ubicquia closes $106M Series D to expand AI-enabled smart city and grid infrastructure.
- •Funding supports UbiHub AI+ and UbiScout video analytics for public safety and traffic management.
- •More than 1,000 municipalities currently utilize Ubicquia’s sensors to improve energy efficiency and security.
Ubicquia has secured a substantial $106 million in Series D funding to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence across urban environments and utility grids. By integrating sophisticated sensors and software directly into existing streetlights and utility poles, the Florida-based firm transforms standard municipal fixtures into "intelligent infrastructure" capable of real-time data analysis.
The investment will primarily fuel the development of AI-driven tools like UbiHub AI+, which provides advanced analytical services for traffic and public safety. Another key focus is UbiScout, an AI video accessory designed for license plate recognition (the automated identification of vehicle registration numbers) and livestreaming, helping law enforcement and city planners monitor vehicle patterns more effectively. These systems allow local governments to shift from reactive maintenance to proactive, data-informed decision-making.
Beyond public safety, the technology addresses the critical need for grid resiliency—the ability of a power system to withstand and recover from high-impact events—as energy demands fluctuate. By monitoring transformers and utility poles, Ubicquia’s platform helps utilities detect potential failures before they occur, significantly reducing operating costs. As cities prioritize measurable insights to manage growth, Ubicquia’s infrastructure-as-a-service model offers a scalable path toward more efficient, automated urban management.
