The Partnership on AI (PAI), a leading non-profit coalition dedicated to the responsible development of artificial intelligence, has announced a significant shift in its board leadership as it marks its tenth anniversary. Jatin Aythora, the Director of BBC Research & Development, steps into the role of Board Chair, succeeding Apple’s Jerremy Holland. This transition signals a strategic emphasis on the intersection of media, ethics, and public-interest technology during a period of rapid AI scaling.
Joining Aythora are two newly appointed Vice-Chairs: Premkumar Natarajan, the Chief Scientist and Head of Enterprise AI at Capital One, and Nicol Turner Lee, an expert in digital equity and founder of the AI Equity Lab. These appointments reflect PAI’s commitment to a multisectoral approach, bringing together voices from financial services, telecommunications, and social advocacy. The goal is to create a cohesive framework where technological advancement is fundamentally tied to ethical integrity and shared prosperity.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into the daily fabric of our lives, the organization emphasizes the need for inclusive design—creating systems that account for diverse human needs rather than just technical efficiency. By convening stakeholders from academia, industry, and civil society, PAI continues to develop actionable guidelines for purposeful and equitable AI models. This leadership change reinforces the mission to move beyond fragmented safety efforts toward a globally unified standard for human-centric technology.
