Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) has released its comprehensive Q4 2025 bulletin, detailing a massive crackdown on coordinated influence operations (IO) across its global platforms. The report highlights an escalating landscape of digital interference, with state-linked actors utilizing sophisticated networks to manipulate public discourse.
The People’s Republic of China (PRC) remains a dominant force in this arena, with Google terminating over 10,000 YouTube channels in the final quarter alone. These networks primarily focused on Chinese and English-language content concerning US foreign affairs, maintaining a consistent pattern of inauthentic behavior observed in previous years.
Russia’s activity was equally prolific but more geographically diverse, specifically zeroing in on Moldova’s elections and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. TAG’s enforcement actions extended beyond video content, involving the blocking of dozens of domains from appearing on Google News and Discover to prevent the spread of state-sponsored narratives.
Beyond the major geopolitical players, the bulletin notes significant activity from actors in Indonesia, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan. These operations often involve coordinated inauthentic networks designed to boost domestic political agendas, requiring advanced detection methods like Sentiment Analysis to safeguard global AI Safety.
