Google Launches AI Tools to Explore India's Heritage
- •Google Arts & Culture debuts AI experiences exploring India’s historical landmarks and ancient languages.
- •Talking Tours employs Gemini to enable real-time conversational guides at 200 iconic Indian sites.
- •Moving Scripts utilizes Veo and Nano Banana to visualize Sanskrit sounds as cinematic AI sequences.
Google Arts & Culture is redefining how we interact with history by launching three innovative AI-driven experiences focused on India's rich cultural legacy. Ahead of the India AI Impact Summit, these tools demonstrate how frontier models can transform static archives into immersive, living narratives. The cornerstone of this release, Talking Tours – India Edition, integrates the Gemini model to offer real-time, interactive dialogues at over 200 landmarks. This allows users to ask natural language questions about iconic sites like the Taj Mahal or the ancient ruins of Hampi, effectively turning a virtual tour into a personalized history lesson.
The initiative also explores the intersection of linguistics and generative media through Moving Scripts – Sanskrit Devanagari Edition. By utilizing Google’s advanced video generation model, Veo, and the image generation model Nano Banana, the project visualizes the phonetics of Sanskrit—a language often described as a science of sound. This transformation of ink into cinematic scenes helps bridge the gap between ancient text and modern visual understanding, providing a unique look at the visual wisdom embedded in the alphabet.
Finally, Bangalore-based artist Harshit Agrawal has collaborated with the Google Arts & Culture Lab to create Sanskrit Lens. This digital artwork uses AI to explore Rasas, the fundamental theory of Indian aesthetics, demonstrating how technology can facilitate active engagement with cultural material rather than just passive preservation. These projects underscore a growing trend in using multimodal AI to foster deeper global appreciation for diverse traditions and complex linguistic histories.
